I was still feeling the effects of the little mind meld that Double A and I shared prior. Although the internet was a good resource for information it didn't have all of it. Their was still material that had not been transferred over to the digital format and remade in a hard cover copies. It would take years before all the information was finally placed in a digital format for all to access and not having to sign out books, or pay a dollar for a copy or two. Which is why I as here at the Public Library.

I'll be honest, libraries are bit out of date, but still carry all the source material you can physically get your paws on. Many libraries were large and vast based on where you were, in my case, it was pretty massive. Having been based off the Greco-Roman architectures. Large columns with a stair case extending to the doors. From my understanding this used to be the old court house before it was relocated to the new building a few blocks down for space reasons. Since then, the adjacent buildings were purchased and added to expand the space. The interior floor still held the scales and sword at the main entrance with three latin words inscribed around the circle: Lustitia, Pacem, Liberatis, which translates to: 'Justice, Peace, Liberty'. Something that was set up when they built this place. They had been going under renovations with some sections. The main doors had the grand staircase leading up to the upper levels where they had film, computers, copy machines, etc. The community spent a good fair sum to expand this place. It looked like a Colosseum at first glance. Murals along the ceilings and stained glass dome top showing Lady Justice with the scales and sword in hand. Of course the bind fold is over her eyes which symbolizes that the eyes are not to tell a mans guilt, but the evidence placed in hand. If the sun hit it just right, you can see her overlapping the floor design giving it more of a sacred feel to the building. Like Lady Justice protected this place.

Removing my aviators and sliding them on the lapel of my shirt, I walked past the front desk heading over to the card index first. Which was behind it. A woman was seated behind the desk going over a few things. I gave her a smile though nervous one. Didn't look like she was paying much attention to me though. Which I didn't mind. Beats sticking my foot in my mouth. I can't count how many times I did that and nearly paid for it.

The card index was pretty large. Everything was labeled numerically to alphabetically. by book number, author or title. I was looking for titles. Something to pertain to Mythologies. Knowing fully that I may be here for a quite a while since the information I was looking into was the most researched out of all the different sources. I first checked the Greco-Roman section. With the amount of information that pertains to that specific era, it may seem like I'm finding a needle in a haystack. The Greco-Roman Culture was very popular. Romans took ideals from the Greeks. Though in either case their was one thing in particular I was after.

I found the first card I was looking for which was simply titled: Amazons. Mythology/Religion, Section 42-57. I took that card out and placed it on the table nearby before closing section. That was going to take a bit of time. So I would go through the numerical index under Mythology/Religion for that one. I scrolled through a couple of sections about a few other subjects. Magic, Witchcraft, Werewolves. Taking those cards, I proceeded to the sections it was listed. I paused for a second looking over to one of the tables that were a little more isolated near the Index. I took off my leather jacket and placed it on the chair with my Aviators before walking back to the Card index to work on what I was looking for. For some reason I felt like I was being watched. Though not sure as to why. I paused to look around for a second wondering if someone else was around. No one that I could see with the exception of the woman at the front desk, and she looked like she was busy. "Your imagining things, Payton. . ." I said to myself softly. "Just get what you need and get it over with. . ." keeping my voice down since I'm in a library after all.

Within the next few minutes I was able to track down all the source books I was looking for.  History of the Amazons, Greek Mythologies, a few books on werewolves, and even a few odds and ends about witchcraft and magic.  Now some may wonder why I'm going through great lengths on this, I for one couldn't say.  Just a small hunch about the whole ordeal.  I had a notepad on me while I had the books staked up next to me.  Taking a few to open the pages looking for key specifics about the Culture of the amazons.  What I found about this interesting was some of the resources stated that the Amazons only had one breast.  Double A had two.  Wonder why they stopped?  Their could be a few reasons.  One being it wasn't necessary anymore since the female anatomy was about the same as a mans.  Though it seemed apparent their was history to the Amazons.  Some of the stories and folklore I was looking through explained about some earlier beginnings.  Mostly sent to the country of Ukraine according to historian Herodotus.  I looked at it some more and nearly cringed.

"They left the male children to fend for themselves and trained the females. . ." I read to myself softly.  "That sounds rough to me. . ." I kept reading through the books noting some important figureheads.  Pethesilea. . .  That name ringed a bell or two with me.  I looked over the passages about her.  "Let's see. . ." I muttered to myself.  "Ruler of the amazons, led them in the Trojan Wars. . ."  I skimmed through the information.  "Had a sister named Hippolyta. . ."  I paused for a second thinking.  "Wasn't Hippolyta Wonder woman?  Or is that something that DC just whipped up. . ."  I shook me head.  "Hippolyta Possessed a magical girdle that was a gift from Ares to symbolize her rule as queen. . .  That would explain the belt gag."  I skimmed through looking it over some more.  Before pausing at a section pertaining to some images.  In it was amazons fighting Dogs on hind legs.  I read a few passages about the image.  It seemed to be a big bout of some kind.  I started thumbing through a few more books when I stopped for a second.  I could shake off the feeling that someone was watching me.  But who, and why for that matter?  I glanced around for a second to see if I could pinpoint where it might be.  My P226 was with me on it's holster.  It didn't appear to be anyone else around by myself and the lady at the front desk.  Why did it feel like I was being watched?
Another piece to :iconamazonarrow:'s Quest for Power thingy.  This one not so much action packed, but does hint on a few things.  I'm hoping to get this done before the contest is up.  :)
